Educational Leadership 325/525: Instructional Technology (2001)A 3-credit course emphasizing the infusion of technology into the curriculum and learning process. Media technology is explored within a context of curriculum development and instructional strategies. Both courses used Blackboard as a primary interface for course information. Taught at the University of WI Oshkosh. Educational Leadership 205: Introduction to Microcomputers in Education (2002)A 1-credit course emphasizing the basics of using computers. Information technology is explored within a context of curriculum development and instructional strategies. I developed a series of assignments based on planning a two-week foreign vacation. Taught at the University of WI Oshkosh. Teacher Education 150: Reflections on Learning (1996, 1997)This course is designed to assist students in building deeper and more reasoned understandings of learning, both in school and out. It focuses on two central and related questions: (1) what do people learn? and (2) how do they learn? Course topics include discourse, prior knowledge, context and social setting, motivation, assessment, and teaching. Activities unique to this section included evaluating software, designing web pages, using the Internet as a learning tool, and critically thinking about software for teaching and learning (spreadsheets, semantic networks, hypermedia, etc.). Taught at Michigan State University. Kaplan GRE Preparation (1996-97)Taught 30-hour GRE preparation courses. Topics included both content (vocabulary, algebra, logic rules, etc.) and test-taking skills and strategies. Presented occasional seminars in basic content areas and on the graduate admissions process. Preschool (1994-95)I taught preschool in Lexington, KY, as a volunteer with the Christian Appalachian Project. Part of a 3-person team, I had primary responsibilty for the middle-ability children. I designed lesson plans, preparing and implementing a wide variety of classroom activities, including small group projects. I kept detailed portfolios of students' work and development. |
