a few selected pages of our wedding memory book |
|
At the wedding/reception, the book was available for guests to sign. We encouraged them to include a few thoughts for us, not just a signature. Many people also drew a little something! After the honeymoon (actually, during our second year of marriage!), I added wedding and honeymoon memorabilia. With the remaining blank pages, I plan to add thoughts and memorabilia from our anniversaries.
My mother and brother painted our invitations and response cards. Each card had two colors, one with a large brush, the other with a small. The cover was made to match them all.
Drawing by Wendy Usrey. This is the first (right) page of the album. Inside the front cover is a newspaper announcement, including a picture of Eric and me. This drawing is very similiar! There was no question as soon as I saw this drawing that it would be the first page.
We read our wedding vows from these cards. Our matching rings were bought from Walker Metalsmiths, handmade with a celtic design. The information on the gold background describes the meaning of the knotwork.
The receipt and a scrap from my wedding dress. The gold is glitter used in my hair. Regarding the socks comment: In college, I didn't match my socks (to each other). David , one of my cousins, told us the night before the wedding that as a kid he had loved that about me!
I attempted to keep a journal during the honeymoon, but after the first couple days, I wrote almost nothing. But I tried! We took a cruise down the Alaskan coast.
Three young girls were at the wedding. At first, we were annoyed that they turned the book into a coloring pad of their own. But now, I realize what precious memories we have of them! Completely original artwork.
"Cookies" by Hellie-Girl, our much beloved foster sister. While we were on the honeymoon, the final decision to return her to her biological father was made. It was heart rending for our family. My in-laws had been her parents since birth; she was now five.
Just a few memories of leaving the ship.
Also included in the book are some of the cards we received. This is the very last page. This card, which still makes me laugh, reads, "Another wedding over, professional cake-toppers Brad and Lucy went home and scaped the icing off their shoes." |
