How do I use the dropbox for students to turn in assignments

Students can submit digital assignments in D2L using the dropbox. Each assignment needs to have a folder for the students to put their file in. This will organize the assignments for easy submission and easy pickup. Here's how to create a folder:

  1. Go to Dropbox.
  2. Select New Folder.
  3. Name your dropbox a name--usually the name of the assignment.
  4. Select whether this is an individual or a group assignment. If the latter, choose the group category. ( How do I create groups for the dropbox (and discussion)?)
  5. If you wish, you may create or select a dropbox Category to group dropboxes together.
  6. In order to grade directly from the dropbox you must either choose the correct Grade Item from the dropdown, or select New grade item to add an item to the grade book.
    • IF graded, enter the number of points
  7. You may also add instructions for the assignment.
  8. When done, select Save in the bottom right.
  9. If you wish to set restrictions on when assignments can be uploaded, select the image:Droprestrict.gif Restrictions tab.
    • You can set date and time availability. Students cannot access the dropbox outside of these times.
    • You can set release conditions.
    • You can give special access to individual students, much like with quizzes. So if you have date restrictions but wish to allow one or more students extra time, you can do so.
  10. When done, select Save in the bottom right.
