How do I set up a randomized quiz
From D2L Wiki
First, you need questions in your quiz library. Most people do this by importing a test bank. Next, if you will be creating a lot of these quizzes (such as one per chapter for a textbook), we recommend creating a template quiz with the basic settings which you can then copy and customize for each quiz.
[edit]
Creating a template quiz
- Select New Quiz.
- Set the options on properties, restrictions, attempts, and submission views tabs as desired. The more properties you have in common the easier it is to create the quizzes.
- Go to layout/questions.
- Select Add/Edit Questions.
- From the Create new dropdown, select Random Section then select GO.
- Give the section a simple name, such as "chapter".
- Save in the upper right.
- Select Back to Quiz Layout/Questions in the upper right.
- You are done creating the template quiz. Go to Quiz List to begin creating the actual quizzes.

Creating a randomized quiz from a template
- Select Copy Quiz.
- Select the template quiz from the dropdown menu.
- Change the name.
- Change Status to Active (unless the course is live in which case you should change it in the quiz properties AFTER you are done with all the quizzes).
- Check the box Edit Quiz after copy completes.
- Select Save.
- Make any necessary updates on the properties, restrictions, attempts, and submission views tabs. For example, if these are graded quizzes, you will need to select a Grade Item and the checkboxes below so that the quiz is graded.
- Go to layout/questions.
- Select Add/Edit Questions.
- Select the random section you created in the template quiz.
- Select import.
- From the Source Section dropdown, select the appropriate section from the quiz library.
- The page will refresh and display all questions in that section.
- Check the top-mot checkbox to select all questions or select individual questions. Selected questions are the set of questions from which each student's quiz will be created. IE, if you select all of the questions, each quiz will be drawn from all of the questions. If select 10 questions, each quiz will draw just from those 10 questions.
- Save.
- You will return to the Add/Edit Questions page. Change number in left upper corner to the number of questions you want on the quiz. EG, enter 10 to have 10 questions.
- Save.
- If you want to draw from more than one section of the question library, simply create additional random sections at the main Add/Edit Questions' (as was done for the template quiz) and follow the above steps for each random section.
- Select Back to Quiz Layout/Questions in the upper right.
- You are done creating the quiz. Go to Quiz List to create another.
