How do I export my course materials

You can export all or parts of your course (no student data) to a zipped file that you save to your computer (or other storage area). This zipped file is packaged in a format that is easily re-uploaded to a new D2L course if needed.

  1. Go to your course in D2L.
  2. Select Edit Course in the upper right.
  3. Select Import/Export/Copy Components to the left.
  4. Select Export Components. You will probably want to leave “Include course files in the export package” checked. The zip file will then include a copy of the files you made available within your Content area.
  5. Select Next.
  6. On the Select Course Materials screen, place a check next to Select All Components, or select only what you wish to save. For example, you may wish to save only your question library, or the Discussion structure and questions you created under your Discussion area.
  7. Select Next at the bottom of the screen.
  8. On the Confirm Components to Export screen, select Next.
Do not uncheck “Include course files in the export package” unless your intent is not to save the course files from your Content area.
  9. On the Export Summary screen, a green check will display next to each component you selected once it has finished processing.
Depending on how much you have in your course this may take a while, so be patient.
  10. Only when you see a green check next to each component, select Done.
  11. Select the link, Click here to download the export Zip package.
  12. Save your zipped course package, first giving it a meaningful name, to your computer or other storage area.
