How do I enable copy and paste in Firefox

In the Firefox 2.* web browser by default, javascript is not allowed to access system clipboard data, so you cannot copy & paste from Word unless you install and configure a Firefox extension. (If you use FF3, you don't need to do this.)
- Install the extension by downloading the AllowClipboard Helper from Mozilla. (You should open this in a new browser window/tab so that you retain these directions.) It may be necessary to authorize addons.mozilla.org to list of sites permitted to install extensions.
- Close and restart your browser after the installation completes.
- Go to D2L. You do not need to log in. (You should open D2L in a new browser window/tab so that you retain these directions.)
- From the menu bar, select Tools then select AllowClipboard Helper.
- Select Allow.

- Select OK at the bottom.
- Restart the browser again. If you do not restart, D2L will not added to the list yet. You will know if it's not working if you see
Text Cut, Copy & Paste not allowed at the bottom of the editor. If you restart the browser and still get this message, go through steps 4-7 again. NOTE: If you are following these directions before May 27, you will see no such message in D2L as we haven't yet upgraded.
In the Firefox web browser by default, javascript is not allowed to access system clipboard data. This is for your protection -- malicious scripts might erase or overwrite current clipboard contents (resulting in data loss) or might read data that exists in the clipboard (creating security and privacy issues). Although this behavior is arguably a good general-purpose configuration, it does impact the functionality of some javascript-based tools, including the D2L Editor.
To enable copy/paste from other applications (such as Word), you will need to install a Firefox extension called "AllowClipboard Helper". Essentially this extension adds a new GUI interface to Firefox which allows users to specify the addresses of sites allowed to access the clipboard. Although the Learn@UW Utility did not create this extension, we haven't extensively tested it, and we cannot offer any assurances as to its security, its continued existence or its compatibility with Firefox or D2L, it does seem to be a viable option at this time.
