YOU MUST RECEIVE PERMISSION FROM US PRIOR TO CREATING NEW USERS. IF YOU DO NOT, YOUR USERS MAY BE DELETED WITHOUT WARNING. Do NOT create accounts for UW Oshkosh employees or students unless absolutely necessary and only when told to do so by us.

  1. Go to Classlist.
  2. Select Add Participants (button at the top).
  3. Please check the database to see if the person already has an account and use that one (with the above process). People do not need three different accounts!
    1. Select the first option, Add an existing user.
    2. In the Search for field, type in the person's last name or TitanID.
    3. Select Search.
  4. Select the second option, Create and enroll a new user.
  5. Fill in the account creation form as indicated below
    • First Name:
    • Last Name:
    • UserName: Use the format we have specified for you.
    • Org Defined ID: repeat the username as the ID
    • Email: any valid email address may be used
    • Role: For instructors, choose NonOshInstructor. For students, choose NonOshStudent. These types will allow the person to change his/her password and email address. Do not use any other types as these will not allow these changes. If you actually do want a different role, create them with one of these two roles, then change their role.
    • Password: not required. If not filled in, D2L will create a random password which the user can change after login. This is highly recommended.
  6. We strongly recommend that you check the box for Send enrollment email. If not, you will have to notify the user yourself. If you do not create a password for the user, you MUST have this email sent or no one will know the password.
  7. Select Enroll. To add another participant, select Add Enroll & New.
  8. The person will be enrolled.
  9. If you make a mistake in the account creation, contact AnnMarie to fix it. Please do not create multiple accounts for one person.
  10. If you accidentally add someone with the wrong role, you can change their role. This only changes their role in the class, so you cannot give them the ability to change their password if you did not start with a NonOsh role.
  11. When you no longer want them in your course, you can remove them.
